Buying a SIM card in Germany

There are no restrictions on overseas visitors buying prepaid cards in Germany.

To buy a SIM card you will need to supply a valid passport or some other ID at the time of purchase, and provide an address of residence such as your hotel. Activation of a service can take a couple of hours.

Top-ups are generally available online, but you can also top-up in person at a service at a convenience store or fuel station.
